When I think of the nicest thing anyone ever did for me I think of Angela. Not that I haven't known other wonderful people, but she touched my life in a special way.
It was evening, and I'd just finished preparing dinner for a crowd of people I'd found out all had different reasons for being gone that evening. To top it off my best friend couldn't come over on her day off like she usually did.
I was 16, shy, insecure and basically going through a rough period in my life. It was one of those bad days were absolutely everything had gone wrong.
I called Angela to see if she was going to come for dinner. She wasn't hungry, but said she'd come help me with the dishes. One look at my face must have told her I needed more than that.
She canceled whatever plans she had and spent the evening with me. We got ice-cream, rented a movie and stayed up talking. It turned my day around.
That's what I remember when I think of her—the little things she did that proved she was always there for me. Having someone like that made such a difference.
